WHO WE ARE

Jack Paterson, Co Founder & Creative Producer

jpthumbJack is a director, dramaturg, actor and theatre creator who works across the country.  Favourite credits include directing the devised Odyssey (The Corbett Theatre, London, UK) and Wasting Time (Indonesian Arts Intitute, Denpassar, Ind), the site specific The Women of Troy (Canadian Stage) and F. Garcia Lorca’s The Love of Don Perlimplin for Belisa (Shaw Festival); dramaturg on the English language premiere of H. Muller’s Mabeth: nach Shakespeare (Theatre Conspiracy);  and playing  Hitler/ Walt Disney in The Blue Light (Firehall Arts Centre).  He is the founder of multi-award winning Mad Duck Theatre Collective for whom he adapted and directed Coriolanus, Julius Caesar,  Vancouver’s first female Prospero in The Tempest and the Vancouver  premieres of Shakespeare’s R&J  and Titus Andronicus.  Other directing credits include the award winning The Hobbit and The Odyssey (Carousel Theatre), Banana Boys (Firehall Arts Centre) and The Pitmen Painters (United Players). Jack is a graduate of Circle in the Square (NYC),  with an MFA in Theatre Direction from The East 15 Acting School (London, UK) and additional training at The University of Performing Arts (Moscow, Ru). His work has been nominated for over twenty Jessie Richardson Awards including four for Outstanding Direction and two for Outstanding Production.  He is  the recipient of the The Ray Michal Outstanding Body of Work by an Emerging Director Award. www.jackpatersontheatre.com

Allyson McGrane, Co-Creative Producer

Allyson is a successful producer, creator and consultant. Having trained as a lawyer, she is currently a founding partner at Left Right Minds Initiatives where she has worked directly with hundreds of professional and community artists and arts organizations. She was a co-founder and co-producer of Neanderthal Arts Festival, a 10-day summer theatre festival at the Cultch (which ran for three years from 2010-2012 and has evolved into the annual rEvolver Festival) and co-founder of PLANK Magazine (an online reviewing site for theatre and dance performance). Past work includes cluster management and consulting for artists including theatrical groups such as the Richmond Gateway Theatre, Ruby Slippers Theatre, Western Gold Theatre and Wild Excursions Performance; more recently, she has worked as Festival Associate at the Chutzpah! France Perras, Co Founder

France2A graduate from the University of Ottawa theatre department, France is an accomplished bilingual actress who produces, and has directed. She works in theatre, television/film, voice-overs, and hosting/moderating.   She is the co-founder and Co-creative Producer of BoucheWHACKED! Theatre Collective.  She has acted at Théâtre la Seizième on a variety of national tours including Jessie nominee for Outstanding Production “Lentement la beauté”.  She received a Jessie Richardson Award for Best Ensemble Performance for “Clon@ge.PA“, and received one herself for Best Supporting Actress for “Porc-épic”.   Her favorite stints at The Vancouver Fringe, to name a few: “An Evening with Beckett” & “Get Off The Cross Mary” (which won a HERO Award for Best Ensemble Cast). France made her directorial debut in Théâtre la Seizième’s 30th anniversary season with “Les Contes Vancouverois” and she followed that with “Deeds” at the Beaumont Theatre for Broads’Way Theatre.  She is a board member for Some Assembly Arts Society, and an Associate Artist with Working Spark Theatre.  More details and info at www.franceperras.com
